Summary

To help learn new strategies and techniques, MFL teacher at St Thomas Moore High School, Chris Williams takes time out to observe his head of department, Christine Talbot.

Encouraged to take the initiative for their own CPD, staff at the school believe peer observation can be a successful method of developing and improving their teaching practice.

This change of emphasis from critical inspection to the discovery of new ideas has helped staff overcome any initial nerves about the project.

The programme also looks at how an observation can benefit both parties involved and how to overcome some of the obvious challenges such as time management.
